The Lucas mechanical fuel injection system assisted the domestic TR6 in producing 150 horsepower. The TR6, like the TR5, was fuel-injected for various foreign markets, including the UK, thus the TR6PI (petrol-injection) name. The engine, like the TR250 engine, was carburetted for the US market. Inline six-cylinder engines were standard on all TR6 sports vehicles. The bodywork was similar to the preceding model, the legendary Triumph TR5, but the front and rear ends were squared off, apparently as part of a consultation deal with Karmann. Only 8,370 TR6s were sold in the United Kingdom out of the 94,619 TR6s built. I have foam seat refurb kits waiting to install, reaer springs and nylatrons f9r the Rear suspension. there are so many po8nts on tr6 of these vintages. Well, used to be we’d buy 12 dollar retreads. get best tires you can spring f9r and expect to replace inĨ years or so. They were terrible.just from sitting dormant, tires do that. Make other assessment and corrections.my old redlines had 34k in 49 years, 21 years sitting ingarage not moivng. with a set of decent ROUND tires on car one can i again say dumped my 44 year old mich redlines at fhe tire shop. But i have to have redlines it make the TR6 look right. Oh yes i nad Coker on before i installed Universal, they were worse. So i will do a little more research next time i make a tire choice.

was $360.00 on top of the $900.00 for the tires, plus $140.00 to Discount tire who was the first installer. Now my TR drives so smooth that i can steer with one hand, and have my coffee in the other. So a specialist is the only way to get it right. they tried to get them balanced, but their equipment can't work well with old TR6 steel rims. I had originally taken my tires to discount tire to mount and balance. All fore tires needed to be force balanced, and swiped to get them to balance out.Mount and balance by a specialist, like i had to take my tires to, was not cheep. I had to return one tire three times before my tire installer would mount and balance it. I found out that Universal is only a broker, and the tires are made by Tire Specialities.Who own the mold for our redlines.
I know i have been recommending Universal Tire for some time, but my last experience with a new set of their red lines was a bad one. As an aside, there are quit a few 165x80/15 tires available in the USA and though most are not "H", they are probably as good as the Coker or Universal and cost from $50 - $70. Google up some British based TR6 forums and you will find the same discussions about tires as here with 165's coming in as the common choice. The 185's were for us Americans who love biggg tires as was the red stripe for some reason. I have mentioned this before but consider that the home market TR6's always rode on 165x15 tires with the exact same wheel width. Honestly, I think both Coker and Universal are maybe $100 tires, but if a red stripe is worth another $100 to you then go for it. I think Coker and Universal are ? rated and I understand both can suffer from un-balancability. Down side, it does not have a red stripe (that's Jamaican beer), "oh my", but they do stick. They are in the ballpark $ wise and I think far superior to Coker (whoever makes their red-line) or Universal (ditto). If you are going to spend that kind of money, at least google Michelin 180x15 XAS tires.
